Hot Docs “The Day Iceland Stood Still”

.

The Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto is proud to be co-presenting the film THE DAY ICELAND STOOD STILL (2024) by Paula Hogan – a documentary that delves into one of the most pivotal moment in Icelandic history!

In 1975, 90% of Iceland’s women walked off their jobs and out of their homes. The nation stopped. Unexpectedly funny and laced with evocative animation, this is the true story of how Iceland became a world leader in gender equality.

To help celebrate this new film, a couple of our Members hosted a luncheon prior to one of the screenings. Check back here soon, for an event report on that luncheon, and below for some pictures!
