Nordic Nights: The Grump: In Search of an Escort, by Mika Kaurismäki

Our next Nordic Nights feature is a Finnish film from 2022: The Grump: In Search of an Escort, a dramedy by Mika Kaurismäki (the other Kaurismäki brother).
The Grump, an old man who sees his glass mostly half-empty, lives his forever grumbling life in the quiet of Finnish countryside until his beloved 1972 Ford Escort heads to the scrapyard. He is determined to find an exact replacement and his search takes him to Germany where his estranged brother had moved to long ago. He will have to deal with way more than used car salespeople before the trip is over, including getting to know his brother all over again. This Nordic Nights screening will be a hybrid event with a limited number of in-person attendees and also simultaneously streamed on-line through Zoom. Use the Zoom registration link to register to the event and let us know whether you would like to attend the movie screening in person. Attendees will be chosen first come first serve until the limited number of spots is full.
