MIRI Plays The El Mocambo May 12th

Miri’s debut LP ‘Okkar’ was released in Iceland in the Summer of 2010 to a great response from both Icelandic audience and media. This fresh and quirky band hits Toronto for the start of their first North American tour on Thursday May 12th at the El Mocambo (464 Spadina Avenue).

With a reputation of powerful and joyous live shows it was speculated how their first LP would live up to that reputation. After ‘Okkar’s’ release, only good to great reviews have been published with two of the biggest newspapers in Iceland giving four stars out of five for the record. Dr. Gunni, Iceland’s most respected music critic, said on his webpage that ‘Okkar’ was one of best Icelandic music offerings of 2010.

Miri has been described as a post rock band to dance to and that is the aim at every concert, to have as much fun as possible. Miri has toured all over Iceland many times in the last years and gained a good reputation as a vigorous live act.

‘Okkar’, Miri’s debut LP, was produced by Curver(of Ghostigital) and will be released in Europe and America in May by Kimi records and Morr music. Miri are playing at NXNE inToronto in June and a US tour is currently being planned around that time.
