About the ICCT
The Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto is a group of people interested in Iceland and its unique
culture, arts, history, literature and language.
This interest covers a wide variety of topics, from the initial settlement of Icelanders in North America c. 1000 AD,
through to the work of contemporary musicians, authors and artists. Events are held regularly, and members are kept informed through the ICCT's
newsletter, the Fálkinn. E-mail alerts are also sent out when there are opportunities to attend special, unscheduled events.
Popular events have included:
- Ţorrablót (or Thorrablót), an annual Dinner/Dance event with Icelandic goodies, entertainment and other treats
- annual travel program on travel to Iceland; slide shows, tips and the latest pricing guides
- annual Christmas fair for the children, with lots of arts & crafts and goodies available for purchase
- genealogy
- entertainment – exhibitions, concerts and visits with popular musicians, artists and authors
- movies – Icelandic movies are being shown now at least once a month
- Club picnics, with entertainment and the chance to meet Icelandic horses or sheepdogs up close
- storytelling, Ásatrú and runes readings have also been of interest to members
- fashion shows & Icelandic national dress workshop
- arts & crafts
- Icelandic and Icelandic-Canadian food
At ICCT events, you'll have an opportunity to share the Icelandic experience with others and to meet interesting people.
The Club also has a lending library, a book club, holds language lessons at various levels, and awards yearly scholarships and grants.
The Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto is a member of the Icelandic National League of North America (INL of NA).

The Alţingi is Iceland's oldest and greatest national institution. Its establishment, as an outdoor assembly held on the plains of
Thingvellir from about the year 930 AD, laid the foundation for an independent national existence in Iceland.
